About the company
EuroSort designs and manufactures high-speed unit and shipping sortation technology for a variety of warehousing and distribution applications, including e-commerce order fulfillment, buy online, pickup in–store, returns processing (reverse logisitics), postal sorting, kitting, central fill, and more.
The Challenge
The client was searching for expertise in integrating a sorter with conveyors and third–party machines such as carton erectors, box closers, weight scale, etc. They were looking for professional automation solutions to ensure compatibility among the various machines, optimizing workflow to minimize bottlenecks and downtime, coordinating communication and data exchange between components, and troubleshooting potential technical issues that may arise during operation.
The Solution
Having a long and vast experience in PLC automation for intralogistics, ISD offered its expertise right away. Our PLC Engineers worked onsite at Eurosort’s warehouse in Romania, where they conducted the cabinet test including the Emergency Stop Procedure (EMS), the Inputs/Outputs (IO) test (involving testing the correct connections between peripheral devices, the central brain, and the PLC). After the IO test was performed, the engineers proceeded to conduct a flow test and alignment of positions and timers.
“Generally, I’m really satisfied with their way of working and determination. They understand the software quickly and commissioned the machine with a clear plan in mind. Communication was also good as they updated me regularly on the progress and checked whether I agreed to a change in the “standard” parts of the software.”
Tony Smits
“It was a pleasure to work on this project, as the customer provided all the necessary equipment, including tools, onsite mechanical engineers for the entire period and kept the channel open for discussions. The collaboration helped me to improve my communication and management skills, and to learn a new software architecture for a sorter system.”
